The U2 Academic Conference will be going on all weekend at NCCU.

Summer Concert Series @ Brightleaf - The last show of the summer season, Cave Dwellers take the stage at 7pm.

See Whip It with the Carolina Rollergirls @ Southpoint - Some skaters and coaches from the Carolina Rollergirls will be at Southpoint to watch Drew Barrymore's new roller derby themed movie with you. Here's a link to the trailer.

Live Music @ Broad Street Cafe - Southern Route at 7:30pm, NCM at 10pm.

African American Dance Ensemble @ Carolina Theatre - "Treasured History: Restored Legacy" A Home Season Celebration! Featuring Lois Deloatch. Tickets start at $15, show starts at 8pm.

Transactors Improv Presents: City of Medicine @ Common Ground - The latest episode of their "completely improvised serial medical drama." Tickets start at $10, show starts at 8pm.

3 Jokers and a Queen @ The DPAC - A night of four young comedians at the DPAC. Tickets start at $41.50, show starts at 8pm.

Piano Recital Series @ Reynolds Industy Theater - The program includes pieces by Haydn, Beethoven, Franck and Liszt. Tickets start at $5, show starts at 8pm.

Marlane Meyer's "The Rule of Fate" @ Manbites Dog Theatre - "Dante's Inferno inspires an expose of a contemporary fictional Hollywood film family in this gritty, funny, shrewd journey in search of the secrets of the bedroom." Tickets start at $8, show starts at 8:15pm.

Live Music @ Papa Mojo's - The Insubordinates take the stage at 9:30pm. $7 cover.

Park Clean-up Volunteer Work Day @ Durham Central Park - Volunteer some of your time between 9am and noon to help keep the park clean.

Phoenix Fest 2009 - Phoenix Fest is celebrates African-American heritage in Durham and throughout the United States, with live music all day and a parade to kick it off. The festival site is on Fayetteville Street between Lakewood Avenue and Piedmont Avenue, ant it goes from 9am-6pm.

Bountiful Backyards "Edible Mushroom Patch Workshop" @ BCHQ - Have a lot of shade in your yard? Learn how to grow edible mushrooms and remove the need to buy them at the grocery store. Starts at noon, with a suggested donation of $20.

FOX 50 Family Fest @ Ambacco - The event will showcase live stage music & entertainment throughout the day, food vendors, inflatable attractions, balloon art, face painting and much more. There will also be free prize drawings throughout the day. The event is FREE and open to the public! Noon-5pm.

Backyard Beer Festival @ Fullsteam - Home brewers unite! This event will showcase beers crafted by local homebrewers. Afterwards there will be a screening of The Room, considered to be "The Citizen Kane of bad movies." Free tickets to the beer tasting have run dry, but you can still show up later for the flick.

FATE Presents: BriarPatch and FAIT Accompli Improv Troupe @ Common Ground Theatre - FATE’s youth improv troupe BriarPatch, comprised of 8 kids from throughout the Triangle come together for their first performance. It will be followed by a family-friendly performance of the adult troupe, FAIT Accompli, as they bring new forms and audience interactions. Tickets start at $7, show starts at 9pm.

Live Music @ Duke Coffeehouse - Rural Alberta Advantage, with Lovely Feathers. $7 cover, show starts at 9pm.

Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle Concert @ Carolina Theatre - A Classical Program w/Guest Artist: Chu-Fang Huang, piano. Tickets start at $20, show starts at 3pm.
