Fullsteam, an inventive and unpredictable Southern brewery, and Haymaker, a Durham performance company, present the first annual “A Very Merry Durham” holiday hootenanny for Third Friday Durham, December 16 from 6:14pm to 10:00pm.
In the grand tradition of outrageous holiday parties the world over, come to “A Very Merry Durham” and
revel in the exuberant and absurd.
The evening will kick off at 6:14pm with fun for the young elves and old grinches alike. Crafting activities provided by the Scrap Exchange, live art on the brewery wall by Adam Peele, performances by various local artists and musicians, and photo ops with the Holiday Gorilla will run until 7:30.
The centerpiece of the night will be a live Variety Hour, showcasing Bull City talent. A little comedy, a bit of contortionism, and a whole lot of fun. Running from 7:30-8:30pm, the show will be emceed by Fullsteam’s “Chief Executive Optimist” Sean Lilly Wilson and will feature acts selected through an open audition process. A holiday surprise will close the Variety Hour followed by the funk and soul stylings of DJ Riah.
The event also marks the official launch of Fullsteam's First Frost. The 9% ABV permission winter ale will be available for sale in draft and by the bottle, along with a cask of clementine-infused Working Man's Lunch and the full slate of Fullsteam beers. A healthy number of Durham's favorite food trucks will be parked outside for dinner and late-night munchies. Admission is FREE with a suggested donation of an unwrapped, store-bought present for Toys for Tots (requested $10 minimum value).
