They Say That In The Army....

This weekend, Manbites Dog Theater opens the world premiere of a new work by local playwright Howard Craft (1, 2) Caleb Calypso and the Midnight Marauders:
To be or not to be...all that you can be.
Germany, 1989: As the Cold War sputters to an end, a young American soldier struggles to plan his future in a world that's about to change forever.
The play is based largely on Craft's experiences stationed in Germany during the late 80s as part of a cavalry unit. The Herald Sun recently wrote a very nice article about the play and Craft's experience, Coming of Age in 1989 Berlin:
Craft came of age in Germany as the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, and so does the main character of his new play, "Caleb Calypso and the Midnight Marauders," which opens Thursday at Manbites Dog Theater in downtown Durham. The playwright loosely based his play on his own experiences 20 years ago.
There is a pay-what-you-can preview of the production on Thursday night at 8:15pm and then the show opens on Friday night (you could check out the Zombie Lurch before the show, it's only a block away!) and runs for 3 weekends. Tickets are available online (as well as other ways).
