It's Zombie Season

It's Zombie season in Durham!

This month is Zombie Month at The Pinhook and they will be showing series of zombie films including Zombie tonight and Dawn of the Dead on UPDATE: Monday (the 26th). Sorry folks, we're late to the take on this one, one of the movies has already passed.

If you're interested in getting in on the zombie action yourselves, Durham has it's very own Zombie Lurch! For those of you unfamiliar with the tradition (which included me), wikipedia has an explanation (thanks internets!):
A zombie walk (also known as a zombie mob, zombie march, zombie horde, zombie lurch, zombie shamble, zombie shuffle or zombie pub crawl) is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes. Usually taking place in an urban centre, the participants make their way around the city streets and through shopping malls in a somewhat orderly fashion and often limping their way towards a local cemetery or other public space (a series of taverns in the case of a zombie pub crawl).
If you are interested, you can find some pretty cool pictures of this sort of thing on flickr here.

Durham's Zombie Lurch will be next Friday, October 30th at "sundown" (approx. 6:30pm). If you're interested in participating, the undead are meeting in the parking lot across from Piedmont on Foster St. It's an all ages event. The organizer has also setup a group on thefacebook and a flickr group for pictures of the event. Looks like a fun time.

  1. You have the wrong date for Dawn of the Dead @ Pinhook (if their website is correct).

  2. It appears their website does say that, but their blog says the 25th. Hrm....

I've e-mailed them to get the truth. I suspect you're right and it's the 26th (since the other films have been on Mondays).
