Nothing But Nets Pre-show @ The DPAC
On Tuesday, April 17, in recognition of World Malaria Day, the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign will
join the Durham Performing Arts Center for opening night of Bring It On. Nothing But Nets will host a pre-show
reception where the Durham Performing Arts Center will announce a commitment to join Nederlander Theatres
and Nothing But Nets partners across the country to send 100,000 bed nets to protect refugees in South Sudan.
Guests will hear from Nyuol Tong, a Duke University sophomore social justice activist from South Sudan. Tong will share his moving personal story of escaping death at age five after being shot by government militia in front of his family. Forced to flee his home, Tong has seen first-hand the dangers facing Sudanese refugees, including malaria, and how bed nets save lives.
Tong will be joined by Fayetteville, N.C. native Nate Stafford, a Boy Scout and Nothing But Nets Champion who hiked 100 miles to help raise $10,000 for life-saving nets.
